Lt Col Shripad Shriram of Strike One from the Indian Army has made a new world record by riding a bicycle. He has registered his name in Guinness World Records by breaking the record of Lt Col Bharat Pannu in October 2020.
Today, when Lieutenant Colonel Shripad Shriram reached Manali, he was welcomed by SDM Dr. Surendra Thakur and DSP Manali Sanjeev Kumar. Both the officers became witnesses of this world record by noting the total time of Shripad Shriram’s journey.
Lieutenant Colonel Shripad Shriram covered the route from Leh to Manali, passing through the world’s most dangerous and high mountains, in the shortest time. He got his name registered in the Guinness Book by completing this journey of 472 km by cycle in 34 hours 32 minutes.
Crossed five passes including Rohtang
Lt Col Shripad Shriram left Leh at 4 am on September 25 and reached Manali at around 3.15 pm today. While reaching Manali from Leh, he crossed five passes including Rohtang on his bicycle.
Earlier in October 2020, Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Pannu had set a record by traveling non-stop on this route by bicycle. Bharat Pannu covered this distance in 35 hours 32 minutes.
He told that traveling during the night in the passes was challenging. He told that the temperature in Baralacha Pass was minus, but he succeeded by working courageously.
He said that the Leh-Manali road has become glare at most places, but due to the bad road between Sarchu, Bharatpur City and Rohtang Marhi, it took them more time.
