The Indian Army has taken proactive measures to improve mental health, including:

- Improved amenities in military stations
- Mutual buddy system for soldiers
- Prompt grievance handling mechanism
- Regular seminars on mental well-being, financial management, and domestic issues
The Indian Army also incorporates mental health and stress management into its training curriculum. Officers are educated about the signs and symptoms of stress, as well as the resources available to them for support.
Some common mental health problems among personnel and veterans include: Depression, Anxiety, Alcohol problems, and Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Just as physical fitness is a central part of military life, mental health is important for your well-being and military and family readiness. Mental health shouldn’t be ignored or hidden.
