Cut-Off Marks For NDA Examination

WHAT IS NDA?

NDA abbreviated as National Defence Academy is one of the most prestigious defence institute or training centre that trains young boys to become officers in of Indian Armed Forces of Indian Defence Forces. It is situated in Khadakwasla Pune, Maharashtra.

ABOUT NDA EXAMINATION

The examination for National Defence Academy is conducted by UPSC twice a year usually in the month of April & September. Candidates who have passed class 12th or are appearing in class 12th can fill forms & give the examination for NDA.

PAPER PATTERN OF NDA EXAM

Talking about the examination; it consists of two papers i.e. Paper 1 of NDA  and Paper 2 of NDA namely MATHEMATICS which is the first paper of the examination is of 300 marks & GENERAL ABILITY TEST (GAT), the second paper of NDA exam is  of 600 marks & each of 150 minutes.

Mathematics paper consists of questions of mathematics basically of class 12th level, GAT exam consists of questions of ENGLISH, GK, GS and Current Affairs.

  • Of candidates given examination
  • Total No. of Vacancies
  • Difficulty level of examination

CUT-OFF MARKS FOR NDA 2 2019 WRITTEN EXAMINATION:

The cut-off marks will be based on the maximum marks of both the papers i.e. 900 marks.  Along with the overall cut-off UPSC also releases sectional cut-off for the paper. This sectional cut-off marks also varies in different NDA examination, like in NDA 1 2019 it was 25% for each section in NDA 1 & 2 2016 it was 20% for each section.

The final cut-off is made on the basis of the combined marks of written examination and SSB interview of 900 each.

In case of “tie” in the final merit list following points are considered:

In case two candidates secure equal aggregate marks the following tie-breaking policy is applied:

  • The candidate with higher marks in written examination is placed at the higher rank.
  • The candidate getting higher marks in the second paper i.e. of GAT will get higher rank.
  • In case both the candidate get equal marks in GAT, the senior candidate i.e. more in age will be placed higher.

The marks obtained by the last recommended candidate in NDA & NA exam is displayed as the Cut off marks for that respective year.

E.g. Say in the year 20XX, a total of 300 candidates qualifies the written exam, and UPSC declares the result. After sorting the candidates for merit list, as per the criterion, it is found that the 300th candidates got 245 marks, then it is shown as the Cut off marks on the website of UPSC.

Also, In UPSC NDA & NA no separate cut off is released for SC / ST / OBC candidates. There is one cut off and on the basis of it candidates belonging to all the candidates are selected or rejected. Each candidate has to thrive for his position in merit without the ladder of reservation.
