R-Day 2022 Parade : Contingent Of Army Commandos March in 1971 War Uniform on Rajpath

R-Day 2022 Parade: Today we are celebrating the 73rd Republic Day, but the Republic Day of 1972 was also special for us in many ways. Just a month ago, we had divided Pakistan into two pieces in the form of Bangladesh. The Indian Army had entered the house and proved its mettle by defeating the Pakistan Army.

During this, another special thing happened that after winning the war in Bangladesh, a contingent of commandos in the same dress had directly reached the Rajpath on 26 January to march. This was the first time that a contingent had joined the march of Rajpath wearing a war dress. About this,

Colonel Retired SM Kunzru, the hero of that war expressed his joy on this day. He said,“To help Bangladesh, a contingent of para commandos was landed in Dhaka with the help of parachute”. After several days of fighting, Bangladesh was liberated from the Pakistani army. Meanwhile, information was received that a Pakistani contingent has attacked the Longewala post near Ganganagar in Rajasthan.

As soon as this news was received, a group of about 600 people came out of Dhaka by sitting in whatever vehicle was found in Dhaka. From here we were put in a train. This train was named White Hot. It was a coal engine train.

The train continued to run without stopping. The driver of the train was very smart. We were just about to reach Ganganagar when information was received from the top officials that the Pakistani army had been driven out from the Longewala post. Now instead of reaching Ganganagar, we got an order to reach Delhi.

After coming to Delhi, we came to know that after staying here for about a month, we have to prepare for the parade to be held on Rajpath. And in this way, for the first time, an army contingent in war dress had paraded on the Rajpath.
