Indian Army soldier’s surgery done at altitude of 16 thousand feet

While doctors are engaged in efforts to save the country battling the Corona Virus pandemic. On the other hand, three doctors have created history by treating a jawan at a height of 16 thousand feet. Doctors have removed the appendix after successful operation of the soldier posted at the Forward Surgical Center in East Ladakh. The special thing is that the soldier could not be removed with the help of a chopper. This was the reason that doctors had to reach surgery at such a height.

Army sources have confirmed that ‘a surgical team of the field hospital has done emergency surgery to remove the appendix of the soldier posted in the forward surgical center at an altitude of 16 thousand feet’. He told that despite facing bad conditions, the doctors underwent surgery and the operation was successful. The condition of the soldier is stable at the moment.

This surgery was done on Wednesday, 28 October. The team of three doctors who underwent surgery included a lieutenant colonel, a major and a captain. Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukund Narwane has made several visits to the forward location to ensure better conditions for the soldiers.

The winter season has knocked and the weather on the border is getting worse. Even before this, the Indian Army, which has faced cold in the Siachen and Kargil-Dras sectors, is stronger than the enemies. The situation in eastern Ladakh is no different from that of Siachen.

However, the temperature here is not as low as Siachen. In eastern Ladakh, the mercury drops to minus 20 degrees Celsius (-20 degree Celsius) during the winter season. Whereas, in Siachen, in the area of ​​76 sq km, this figure decreases to minus 60 ° C (-60 Degree Celsius).
