After the Indian Navy’s destroyer warship ‘INS Visakhapatnam’ was inducted into service here on Sunday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh hit out at China, saying those with “supremeist tendencies” Some ‘irresponsible countries’ are misinterpreting the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) because of their narrow partisan interests.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that it is a matter of concern that the definition of UNCLOS is being continuously diluted by some countries by arbitrary interpretation. He said that some irresponsible countries with their hegemonic and narrowly biased interests are misinterpreting international law.

On this occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh handed over INS Visakhapatnam to the army and said, “Today we have a better opportunity to take the country forward for indigenous manufacturing. Various incentives are being given by the government for the defense sector. It is important for us to maintain this momentum of success. All possible help will be provided by the government.
Capable of stealth attack, the indigenous guided missile destroyer ‘Visakhapatnam’ is equipped with multiple missiles and anti-submarine rockets. It was inducted into service in the presence of top naval commanders. Officials said Visakhapatnam is equipped with lethal weapons and sensors, including surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, medium and short-range guns, anti-submarine rockets and advanced electronic warfare and communication systems.
