Justice Dhirubhai Naranbhai Patel took oath as Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court on 7th June. Deputy Governor Anil Baijal administered the oath of office to Justice Patel at a function held in Rajivwas.
Earlier, Justice Patel was appointed in the Jharkhand High Court, Supreme Court Collegium had recommended his name for appointment as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. 60 posts have been sanctioned for the judges in Delhi High Court but 24 posts are vacant.
About Justice DN Patel
He was born in March 1960 . He completed is LLB degree in 1984 and LLM in 1986. After enrolling he practices in Gujarat High Court. His areas for prcacticising includes Civil , Criminal and Constitutional,Excise and Customs matters.
There are several roles which he served like Special Counsel of High Court of Gujarat. He also served as the in-Charge govt pleader of the State of Gujarat. He acted as an Additional Judge of the Gujarat High Court in March 2004 . In year 2006 he was made as a permanent judge. After that transferred to the Jharkhand High Court in 2009. He served as acting Cheif Justice of the Jharkhand High Court four times between 2013 to 2018.
