With the help of Russia, 5 lakh AK-203 assault rifles capable of hitting targets up to 300 meters will be manufactured in Korwa, Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. In this regard, an important agreement has been signed between India and Russia on 06 December 2021. Under this agreement, five lakh AK 203 rifles will be manufactured under Make in India in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu signed the agreement.
The project is part of a joint venture between India and Russia. Initially, Russia was not ready for technology transfer but has now agreed. However, due to its slow process, the first 70 thousand Russian-made rifles will be supplied to India. Along with this, the process of manufacturing rifles will start in Amethi. Its supply to the army will start in 32 months from the start of the process.

This project will be known as Indo-Russian Joint Private Limited. This rifle is being made jointly by Advance Weapons and Equipment India Limited, Munitions India Limited and Russia’s Rosoborone Export and Conkorn Kalashnikov.

We hope that our cooperation will bring peace, prosperity and stability to the entire region.
