The Modi government has formed a new ministry ‘Cooperation Ministry’. The new Ministry of Cooperation will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country. Recently, a separate ‘Cooperative Ministry’ has been created by the Central Government to realize the vision of ‘Sahakar Se Prosperity’ and give a new direction to the cooperative movement.
It will also help the cooperatives to strengthen a true public participation based movement reaching the grassroots level. Let us tell you that on 06 July 2021, a day before the expansion of the Union Cabinet, the government had created this new ministry (Ministry of Cooperation). The cooperative ministry will work to streamline the process of ease of doing business for cooperatives.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also been given the charge of the Ministry of Cooperation. To realize the vision of ‘Sahakar Se Prosperity’, the Modi government had created the ‘Ministry of Cooperation’. Now the Home Minister of the country has been given the charge of this new ministry.
It will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country. This will help in consolidating the cooperatives into a people based movement reaching the grassroots level.
The cooperative based economic development model is very relevant in our country, where each member works with his own sense of responsibility. It is necessary to save cooperative societies from lagging behind and take them forward on the path of development. Keeping this in mind, the government has formed a new cooperative ministry. This ministry will work towards streamlining processes for ‘ease of doing business’ for cooperatives and enabling the development of Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS).
