President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office of Chief Information Commission (CIC) to Bimal Julka. The Bimal Julka is a 1979 batch retired IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh Cadre. He has been posted as Secretary in the Ministry of information and Broadcasting.
A Rashtrapati Bhawan release said that President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office of CIC to the Central Information Commission in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The post of the head of the commission was vacant after Sudhir Bhargava retired on January 11. The commission has 11 sanctioned posts of Information Commissioners including (CIC). There are currently six Information Commissioners.
The post of five more Information commissioners remains vacant after Julka was appointed as CIC. The Central Information Commission was formed under the Right to Information Act and comes under the jurisdiction of all central public authorities.
