Indian Air Force Group X and Y exam is a national level examination, conducted twice a year (March and September). The cadets who join Indian Air Force X and Y group as Airmen are the personnel below officer rank. The selection process of Air force for X, Y group/Airmen Selection Process 2020 is held on three stages. The eligible candidates can apply for the exam. First of all candidates have to appear for the online examination. Clearing it leads the candidate to the Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Selected candidates then go for Adaptability test followed Dynamic Factor Test (DFT) and finally the medical test.
The very 1st step i.e. the online examination is explained in our previous blog. Let us now gain some knowledge on how candidates are judged on the basis of physical fitness.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is the second hurdle that the candidates have to pass through after the online examination. Talking about tough selection procedure, Medical and Physical standards play an important role in it. To become a Commissioned Officer in IAF (to get selected into the training program that will help one become one), one must satisfy a set of Physical Standards that they have set.
The candidate must be in good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely in interfere with the efficient performance of military duties. There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or under weight.
Names of the shortlisted candidates who qualify the Online Test will be displayed on the CASB Web Portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in and on a stipulated date will be called at designated Airmen Selection Centre for Physical Fitness Test (PFT).
Let’s go through the procedure,
- 6 KM running in 6 min 30 sec.
- 10 pushups by holding yourself in the same position for 5 to 10
- 10 sit ups.
- 20 squats.
Candidates completing PFT faster are awarded additional marks on a sliding scale.
